How can we help you?
Behavioral coaching is a natural support to professional psychological services.
Independence Behavioral Coaching (IBC) believes that the best way to help a child is through supporting the people around them.
IBC coaches create a supportive alliance with parents, teachers, counselors and any other professionals involved to help them guide children to become their “best self.”
IBC coaches utilize focused questions designed to increase awareness of a child’s specific abilities as applied in the home and the classroom setting.
IBC coaches encourage parents and teachers to shift their thinking from one where the focus is on changing behavior to one focused on:
- celebrating talents;
- enhancing relationships;
- setting the child up for success;
- and guiding positive growth.
IBC coaches provide a valuable compliment to counseling services by being able to go into the home or school setting where the difficult behavior is occurring and modeling, role-playing and practicing the expected behavior.
The behavioral coach:
- Assesses the child, caregiver(s), and/or teacher’s strengths and talents
- Encourages self-awareness and focused goals
- Provides personal support, education, and behavior building recommendations
- Develops a personalized behavioral plan focused on increasing expected behaviors
- Utilizes modeling, role play and repetitive practice to help strengthen expected behaviors
- Provides recommendations, suggestions, and information on community resources that would help maintain meaningful activities, healthy choices, and desired lifestyle
