Independence Behavioral Coaching (IBC) reaching out to the Arizona community
Independence Behavioral Coaching (IBC) is reaching out to the community in November by providing family and teacher training for valuable community support programs and associations like the Native American Fatherhood and Families Association (NAFFA) and the Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence.
NAFFA defines the purpose of life as “to have a happy and safe family.” NAFFA designed its programs specifically for Native American fathers and mothers to strengthen Native families through responsible parenting. For more information about NAFFA’s work in the community, visit their website at http://www.nativeamericanfathers.org/.
NAFFA provides a wide range of training workshops to assist tribal, community and government organization staff to enhance their capacity to work effectively with fathers and within the Native American culture. On November 4-6, NAFFA will be sponsoring their National Native American Fatherhood and Family Conference at the Windemere Conference Center, 123 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ. This year Eric Putnam, President of IBC will be presenting two workshops on Anger Management and Child Guidance/Positive Discipline.
The Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence, formerly the Arizona School-Age Coalition, was founded in 1990 by afterschool professionals from Tempe, Phoenix and Tucson in order to improve the quality of care in afterschool programs and to support the budding school-age care profession.
Since the 1990s the Center has been the leader for promoting high quality out-of-school time programs in Arizona. Through a network of diverse stakeholders for children, youth and families the Center is creating a single, unified voice for afterschool in Arizona to implement a strategic agenda that includes professional development, quality initiatives, public awareness, partnership linkages, and enhanced funding for the field of out-of-school time. For more information about the Center, see their website at http://www.azafterschool.org/.
One of the ways the Center supports the afterschool system is in its sponsorship of the Annual State Afterschool Conference held on November 14th at the Mesa Convention Center, 263 N. Center St., Mesa, AZ. The conference gathers more than 500 state afterschool professionals for a day of learning, networking and celebrating successful programs. Eric Putnam was selected to present on Attention and Hyperactivity Problems.
