Struggling with oppositional, defiant and aggressive behavior in your child?

Parenting a difficult child is not easy!

We can provide proven tools that can help now.

Are you frustrated, feeling hopeless and guilty when it comes to parenting your child?

Do you find yourself resorting to nagging, yelling, bribing and even name-calling?

Let’s face it some children are more difficult to parent then others.

Difficult children have lots of energy, are impulsive and easily distracted.  Difficult children struggle to manage their emotions, become easily overwhelmed by change and can quickly become over stimulated.

Difficult children are often diagnosed as having an attention deficit and hyperactive disorder (ADHD), labeled oppositional and defiant or children that are overly aggressive toward others.

Parenting these intense children can be exhausting and can eventually become a negative cycle where a parent is left using nagging, yelling, bribing, and even name-calling.

This negative cycle leaves parents frustrated, hopeless, and guilty and leaves their children feeling broken, inferior, and angry.  Many of these same children go on to make statements like, “everybody hates me” and “I would be better off dead.”

Independence Behavioral Coaching focuses on rebuilding broken relationships, strengthening self-esteem, and teaching parents how to encourage the growth of their child’s talents and manage the behaviors they struggle with.

Our behavior management tools were created while working with some of the most difficult behaviors imaginable.  Our tools are universal and are proven to work with a wide variety of behavior problems of varied intensity.

For more information about specific issues relevant to your child, see our behavioral tools list.

How can we help you?

Behavioral coaching is a natural support to professional psychological services.

Independence Behavioral Coaching (IBC) believes that the best way to help a child is through supporting the people around them.

IBC coaches create a supportive alliance with parents, teachers, counselors and any other professionals involved to help them guide children to become their “best self.”

IBC coaches utilize focused questions designed to increase awareness of a child’s specific abilities as applied in the home and the classroom setting.

IBC coaches encourage parents and teachers to shift their thinking from one where the focus is on changing behavior to one focused on:

-       celebrating talents;

-       enhancing relationships;

-       setting the child up for success;

-       and guiding positive growth.

IBC coaches provide a valuable compliment to counseling services by being able to go into the home or school setting where the difficult behavior is occurring and modeling, role-playing and practicing the expected behavior.

The behavioral coach:

-       Assesses the child, caregiver(s), and/or teacher’s strengths and talents

-       Encourages self-awareness and focused goals

-       Provides personal support, education, and behavior building recommendations

-       Develops a personalized behavioral plan focused on increasing expected behaviors

-       Utilizes modeling, role play and repetitive practice to help strengthen expected behaviors

-       Provides recommendations, suggestions, and information on community resources that would help maintain meaningful activities, healthy choices, and desired lifestyle

How can you help your daycare or school help your students?

 We can offer behavioral support for your parents and behavior specific training for your teachers.

 Professional development is an essential part of the success of all schools, daycares or any other educational organization for children.

 Due to the S*UCCEDS Program ending effective March 1, 2009 and State budget cuts decreasing the number of available funded trainings in half, Indepedence Behavioral Coaching (IBC) has successfully been approved by the Arizona Office of Child Care Licensing as a provider for the 12-hour a year mandated daycare staff training.

 IBC was created to fill the needs of a growing number of families and teachers for positive support services provided directly in the home and/or daycare/school where difficult behaviors are occurring.

 IBC behavioral coaches and trainers provide behavior specific tools designed to help parents and teachers create a supportive alliance with their children to help them become their “best Self.”

 The following 2-hour trainings and 4-hour workshops are designed to provide practical, easy-to-use, talent centered behavior management tools.
